500px / Highway to the Moon by Aaron J. Groen
This is how the lunar eclipse that occurred on December 21st, 2010 looked like. It lasted 5 hours and 38 minutes, and was photographed every two minutes. Out of hundreds of shots taken, 61 photos were compiled into this long, sequential series of the increasingly-shadowed moon.
On the outside, this bronze ring shows phases of the moon. On the inside, it’s inscribed “Take your time loving me.”
i will accept no other wedding ring
For the moon of your life.
Good night moon. Good night Church. Good night Norhtern Lights. Good night humans.
Moon Rise Time Slice…. this is a collage of 11 photos taken over 27 minutes and 59 seconds
Gorgeous. Also photographic proof that the moon is not, in fact, larger near the horizon. That is merely an illusion.
What do they call that illusion? “The Moon Illusion” of course. ASAPScience did a really nice video about it.
Not only that, but see how the moon is red near the horizon? That’s because of the same science that makes the sunsets red and orange! And I did a video about that: “Why is the Sky Any Color At All?”
It all comes together, man! Science!

Markus Reugels has done some experiments with refractions in a drop . For this he has tested many maps; Markus wanted a satellite map, but it didn’t look so good. So at least he took this map.
More of his work here.
Except the moon is gradually pulling away from the Earth. Eventually the moon will go flying off into space, and the Earth will be sad, and lonely, and die alone.
Join the club guys, I’m already dying alone :P
